Dear moms/dads of the world,
Over the past few weeks, if there’s anything important that I’ve learnt as a parent, then it is the importance of time. The idea of having a child is one thing but when you actually have one and are busy trying to make your life work around the child is a ball game of a different level.
The key, however, to ensure you are not driven by the situation in to insanity and absolute stress… is to pre-plan. Keep a time table, if you must. Of course there will be changes half way through or even constantly but that’s when you have to be sorted or at least breathe and think of how to maneuver the situation without freaking out.
For instance, if you have a 3 or 5 year old who needs constant supervision, and you are a part time work from home mom or dad, then you know the best way to deal with work and your child is to pre-plan and allot time for each activity. Say two hours in the morning or two hours when the child is sleeping at home or even when they are off to school, for that matter. Make use of the time you get between taking care of your child. Of course, the younger the child, the more time you will have to dedicate to tending to their needs.
So make yourself a things-to-do list and work around that to ensure your plans and sanity are both intact as well as your child gets enough time too!
Until next time,
